MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 42 Ilya Ivashka went off to a good start at the Halle Open defeating Germany's world number 149 Jan-Lennard Struff, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), in two hours and five minutes, BelTA has learned.
In the round of Last 16 the Belarusian will face either world number one Daniil Medvedev of Russia or Belgium's world number 39 David Goffin.
Belarus' world number 38 Aliaksandra Sasnovich saw off Russia's world number 147 Anastasia Gasanova, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, in the Grass Court Championships Berlin opening round.
Belarus' world number 5 Aryna Sabalenka will take on Russia's world number 24 Veronika Kudermetova.
In the women's doubles round one Belarus' Lidziya Marozava and Kaitlyn Christian of the United States battled through Spain's Garbine Muguruza and Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, 6-4, 3-6, 13-11.
The grass court tournaments in Germany will be over on 19 June.
