MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – The Organizing Committee for the 2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina 2026) unveiled the medals for the Olympic and Paralympic Games that will be held in Italy in February 2026, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
The medals for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina will be made by the Italian Institute of Mint and Printing (IPZS) using recycled metal derived from their own production waste. They will be cast in induction furnaces powered entirely by renewable energy, with eco-friendly packaging made with FSC-certified materials and minimal use of plastics.
The medals for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games represent the mastery and excellence of Italian design. “Each one is a unique piece, the result of craftsmanship and innovation,” said Paolo Perrone, President of the Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute. A total of 245 gold, 245 silver, and 245 bronze medals will be presented during the Olympic Winter Games and 137 gold, 137 silver, and 137 bronze medals will be awarded during the Paralympic Winter Games.
