Hurshtyn, Khramiankou earn Olympic licenses in wrestling

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The European OG Qualifier 2024 took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 5-7 April, BelTA has learned.

The biggest number of Olympic licenses for Belarus were collected in freestyle wrestling. Earlier, the Paris 2024 spots were earned by Aryan Tsiutryn and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau. Later, Aliaksandr Hushtyn and Dzianis Khramiankou secured their Olympic berths moving through the semifinal. 

In the 97kg Aliaksandr Hushtyn defeated Adlan Viskhanov from France in qualification, proved stronger against Vladislav Baitcaev from Hungary in the quarterfinal. The Belarusian’s rival in semifinal Radoslaw Baran of Poland withdrew due to an injury. In the 130kg Dzianis Khramiankou kicked off from the quarterfinal thanks to his high seed and beat Johannes Ludescher of Austria. He defeated Kamil Kosciolek of Poland in the final bout.

Thus, Belarus holds seven Olympic licenses in wrestling. Among the Olympic berth winners are also Iryna Kurachkina, Vanesa Kaladzinskaya and Abubakar Khaslakhanau.

The World OG Qualifier in Istanbul in May 2024 will be another chance for athletes to earn Paris berths.
