Hatouka loses to Bara in Australian Open qualifying

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 213 Yuliya Hatouka made an early exit as she lost to Romania’s world number 183 Irina Bara, 2-6, 7-5, 3-6, in the Australian Open qualifying, BelTA has learned.

The Romanian will next play world number 141 Eva Lys of Germany. Earlier, world number 221 Jana Kolodynska of Belarus lost to Russia’s world number 191 Anastasia Zakharova, 1-6, 3-6.

Tomorrow Belarus’ world number 202 Iryna Shymanovich is set to take on world number 124 Olga Danilovic of Serbia. In the men’s singles qualifying Belarus’ world number 182 Ilya Ivashka will play world number 213 Oliver Crawford of the United States.

Players need to win three matches in order to qualify for the main draw.
