MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – FC Dinamo Minsk U-19 have fought their way into the UEFA Youth League qualification round of 32 for the first time ever, BelTA has learned.
After losing the first match of the third qualifying round to FC Dinamo Tbilisi 0-2, the Belarusians turned the tables with an identical 2-0 win on 10 December, before clinching victory 4-2 in the penalty shootout. The draw for the round of 32 will take place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on 11 December, with the matches scheduled for 3-4 February 2026.
In the opening qualification round, Sergey Yaromko’s squad defeated Kazakhstan’s FC Ordabasy over two legs. The first match in Shymkent ended in a 1-1 draw, while the second saw the Minsk team secure a 2-0 victory. In the second round, the Belarusians defeated Bulgaria’s PFC Ludogorets. FC Dinamo Minsk lost the first match in Razgrad to the hosts 0-1, but then claimed revenge with 2-0.
For the two previous consecutive seasons, FC Dinamo Minsk had only reached the second qualifying round. Last season, the Minsk team started by beating Yerevan’s FC Pyunik over two matches 4-2, 2-1 but were later eliminated by FC Lokomotiva Zagreb 1-2, 0-0. In 2023, they got past PFC Ludogorets on aggregate 0-1, 2-0 only to fall to FC Mainz 05 in the next round 1-1, 1-2.
Last season, Spain’s FC Barcelona became the UEFA Youth League champion for the third time in history. England’s Chelsea F.C. has won the title twice, while Austria’s FC Red Bull Salzburg, Spain’s Real Madrid CF, Greece’s Olympiacos F.C., the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar, and Portugal’s S.L. Benfica and FC Porto each have one title to their name.
