
MINSK, 22 August – The draw for the US Open, the season's final Grand Slam, took place in New York on 21 August, BelTA learned.
Defending US Open champion and current world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will face Switzerland's Rebeka Masarova (World No.109). Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich (No.121) has been drawn against U.S. Iva Jovic (No.76), while Victoria Azarenka (No.133) will compete against one of the qualifiers.
Two more Belarusian tennis players will compete for a spot in the main draw. In the second qualifying round, world No. 237 Kristina Dmitruk will meet Czech Dominika Salkova (No.162) and Iryna Shymanovich (No.171) will face Russia's Oksana Selekhmeteva (No.166).
