Belarus progress to UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup semifinal

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – The UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup is underway in Cairo, Egypt, BelTA has learned.

This tournament is the first one for Belarusian athletes after their return to the world arena. The Wednesday program featured men’s qualification events. Among the top performers in Qualification Group B was Belarus’ Maksim Maruk (1,182 points, 3rd position). Belarus’ Uladzislau Nestsiarau was 19th (1,151).

In Qualification Group C Belarus’ Maksim Fiadotka qualified for the semifinal with 1,172 points in the sixth spot. Illia Palazkou of Belarus placed 17th with 1,144.

The men’s qualification featured 90 athletes, with 36 qualifying for the semifinal.

The men’s semifinal is scheduled for 8 march. The women’s semifinal due on Friday will feature Belarus’ Mariya Gnedtchik and Anastasiya Prokopenko. Finals will take place on 9 March. The season-opening UIPM 2024 Pentathlon World Cup Cairo has gathered over 170 athletes from 45 countries.

The ongoing event is a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. All points earned in the major UIPM competitions this season can potentially count towards the UIPM Olympic Pentathlon World Ranking list.
