Belarus’ Khandoshka wins 2024 World Aquatics Championships bronze

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes are taking part in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships which are underway in Doha, the capital of Qatar, BelTA has learned.

The Women Solo Free final featured 12 athletes, with Belarus’ Vasilina Khandoshka performing the most complex routine (49.6000 for Total Difficulty). The Belarusian scored 70.9500 for Artistic Impression, 174,1542 for Execution. Vasilina Khandoshka scored a total of 245.1042 points to clinch bronze. Gold went to Canada’s Jacqueline Simoneau (264.8207 points), silver – to Evangelia Platanioti from Greece (253.2833).

Vasilina Khandoshka is 22 years old. Her previous best achievement was bronze at the 2020 European Aquatics Championships. The Belarusian placed fourth in the Women Solo Technical at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.

The 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Qatar will be over on 18 February. Athletes are competing in 75 medal events in artistic swimming, diving, open water, water polo, high diving, and swimming. Anastasiya Kuliashova, Alina Zmushka, Anastasiya Shkurdai and Ilya Shimanovich will compete for Team Belarus in swimming (the event kicks off on 11 February). Representatives of 197 countries are taking part in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
