Belarus’ Anastasiya Shkurdai wins 100m backstroke swimming gold at international tournament in Minsk

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian swimmer Anastasiya Shkurdai won her second gold medal at the short-course swimming cup Strongest Athletes Swimming Cup in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian athlete celebrated her success in the 100-meter backstroke. The Brest native advanced to the final with the third-best time, and in the final she was the first to touch the wall with a time of 56.70 seconds. Anastasiya Shkurdai was half a second ahead of the Russians Alina Gayfutdinova and Milana Stepanova. The day before, Anastasiya Shkurdai was the best in the 200-meter medley.

The Strongest Athletes Swimming Cup has gathered a total of about 500 athletes from 11 countries in Minsk. The participants include world champions, European champions, and Olympic Games finalists. The competitions will last through 23 November, with a total of 46 medal events in the program.
