MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are able to jointly resist the West’s dictate in the area of critical technologies, Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) of Russia Aisen Nikolayev told the media following his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 30 September, BelTA has learned.
“We are obliged to do everything together to get away from the dictate of the West in the field of critical technologies,” the head of the region said. “I believe that our countries are able to jointly make any technology in the world. The main thing is to have the appropriate desire, to have teams and people who are ready to do it.”
In his words, Belarus is able to cover Yakutia's needs in special-purpose equipment. Aisen Nikolayev considers the development of cooperation with our country to be very important, especially in terms of industrial machinery supplies. According to him, there are about 1,500 BelAZ trucks, over 7,000 MTZ tractors, and the Amkodor road machinery operating in Yakutia. The region plans to continue and increase the supplies of equipment.
Yakutia also shows interest in the supply of Belarusian food products. A list of what the region needs has already been compiled, and cooperation in this area will be developed further.
Visiting Minsk for the first time, Aisen Nikolayev praised clean and tidy streets of the Belarusian capital. Aisen Nikolayev, the former head of the city of Yakutsk, knows very well how difficult it is to manage the city economy and achieve such results. “I am sure that our peoples, who share historical values, certainly have a lot of areas in which we can cooperate,” he emphasized.
