Winter fairytale. Belarusian builds real ice house for her daughter

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - A Belarusian woman has built a real ice house for her daughter near Minsk, BelTA reports citing ONT TV channel.

The idea behind this unusual project isn’t new. The Gres family first built ice castles and Eskimo-style houses in their yard five years ago. Now their backyard is decorated with a colorful igloo.

“We never expected the result would cause such a stir on social media. We started by buying aluminum molds and food coloring. Since this is all near our garden, it was important for us that everything be safe. Then we started filling the molds. I began on my own as my daughter was at a competition, my husband was at work, and our little child was at home. I waited for my husband to come home from work so he could spend a bit of time with the baby, and I built during that time. Construction was slow, just one or two hours a day. When my daughter came back from her competition, she started helping. She was very interested and enjoyed doing it, but with school and activities, it didn’t always go quickly,” said Yana Gres.

Powdery snow and water were the building materials, with the freezing temperatures outside serving as the main helper. “I came to school and my friend told me: ‘You have such a cool igloo. My mom saw it on social media and even liked it’. I felt so proud because we had finished it. It was really hard, but we didn’t give up halfway,” Maria Gres said.

Gradually, the little house turned into a real apartment, complete with fairy lights, a rug, and even a samovar. Now the colorful igloo preserves not only warmth but also a special family atmosphere. On social media, it has received over a thousand likes and hundreds of comments. People write that such a house is every child’s dream.
