MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – A muster for officials of national bodies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states, who are authorized to interact with the CSTO Crisis Response Center, took place at the Combat Training Center of Kyrgyzstan’s Armed Forces in Bishkek on 22-24 September, BelTA learned from Vladislav Shchegrikovich, Press Secretary of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Heads of centers (central command posts) of the defense ministries of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan took part in the event in addition to representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs, the emergencies ministries, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, and other bodies.
Matters of monitoring and analyzing the military and political situation in the CSTO’s collective security regions were considered during the muster in addition to matters of predicting the situation’s possible development and of identifying signs of emerging crisis situations as well as existing threats and challenges to collective security. Participants of the muster also discussed the counteraction of mass media aggression and ideological aggression against the CSTO member states, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly’s efforts to improve the legal framework, align and harmonize the national legislations of the CSTO member states in the field of crisis response. Apart from that, participants of the muster talked about the development of the system for controlling the troops (the Collective Forces) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the interests of carrying out routine missions and of responding to crisis situations. The experience of operation of the system of interagency interaction and information exchange in the interests of collective security was shared.
Participants of the muster offered military honors to the Soviet liberator warriors, who fell during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, laid a wreath on behalf of the Collective Security Treaty Organization at a victory monument, and visited the Kyrgyzstan National History Museum and the M.V. Frunze Memorial House Museum. The delegation of the CSTO Joint Staff donated the encyclopedic edition “The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” to the museums on behalf of and upon instructions of the CSTO secretary general. The publication is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet nation’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
