MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - A meeting chaired by Inna Medvedeva, Chairperson of the vote counting commission of the Belarusian People’s Congress, was held at the Central Election Commission ahead of the major political event: the second session of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress, BelTA learned from the National Statistical Committee.
The meeting discussed the procedures for the work of the vote counting commission and also the procedures for conducting both open and secret ballots. Special attention was paid to the process of preparing and the procedure for carrying out secret ballots. The commission members examined all procedures related to vote counting and the subsequent announcement of results.
“The main task of the vote counting commission is to ensure a transparent and objective voting process,” Inna Medvedeva emphasized. She also noted that both open and secret ballots are scheduled for the second day of the Belarusian People’s Congress. “One item concerning the election of a member to the Presidium of the Belarusian People’s Congress will be put to a secret vote. To efficiently organize this vote, nine polling stations have been designated. Each station will be supervised by members of the vote counting commission,” she informed.
