MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Security is one of Belarus' main achievements in 30 years, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told reporters after casting his ballot during early voting at polling station No. 5 in Tsentralny District of Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“As a citizen of Belarus and as an official, I voted for the future of our country. And as a person responsible for national security, for coordinating organizations of the security bloc, I voted for security. I believe that security is one of our country's key achievements over 30 years since the institution of the presidency was established,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
According to him, a lot has been done over the course of 30 years. “We have moved away from the abyss and are now working to improve all aspects of national security,” the state secretary emphasized.
He gave his take on global developments. “Today, security issues are coming to the fore and play a crucial role in the existence of any state. Over the past 30 years, the people of Belarus have made security, stability and peace the country's brand,” Aleksandr Volfovich remarked.
The state secretary also noted that many accuse Belarus of being a 'threat from the East'. “In fact, today many leaders of the so-called democratic West prioritize not the security of their peoples, but militarization, an arms race. In fact, an arms race has already been unleashed and territorial claims are made,” he said.
Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized that Belarus has never claimed other countries' territories over the 30 years of its sovereign development. “We don't need what's not ours. We are proud of what we have achieved in 30 years, we value it and we won't cede it. I'm sure that today the people of Belarus will make the right choice,” Aleksandr Volfovich added.
Early voting is taking place from 21 January to 25 January 2025. Early voting is meant for people who will not be able to come to polling stations on 26 January. During early voting, precinct commissions will work from 12:00 to 19:00 without a break.
