Belarusian products account for 94% of Russia's dairy imports

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - Belarusian products account for 94% of Russia's dairy imports, Lyudmila Manitskaya, Director of the Russian Dairy Union, said at the plenary session of the Belarus’ Dairy Industry international forum (11th edition) in Minsk on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

"In terms of dairy whey, permeate, cottage cheese, and curd products, 100% of imports come from the Republic of Belarus,” Lyudmila Manitskaya stated.

Supplies also came from Kazakhstan (1.8%), Azerbaijan (1.2%), Argentina (1%), and also Uruguay, Serbia, and Iran (each below 1%).

"Belarus possesses not just potential, but significant sustainable capabilities in the Russian dairy market, especially under conditions where price competition is based on trust in quality and technological standards. Russia and Belarus are long-standing partners in the dairy industry and can develop joint projects and establish mutually beneficial supply chains. This is particularly important in the context of rising milk production costs and the need to maintain producer profitability. Long-term cooperation and deep integration of production chains form a solid foundation for future development,” Lyudmila Manitskaya said.

Overall, according to her, competition in the market is intensifying. There is a demand for functional dairy products, lactose-free and plant-based alternatives, local brands, innovative packaging, sustainability, and personalization.
