Volfovich: CIS states should develop response to external interference

MOSCOW, 3 November (BelTA) – The CIS member states are facing common challenges and risks related to outside interference. This matter was discussed at the 10th meeting of Secretaries of the CIS Security Councils in Moscow on 3 November, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told reporters following the meeting, BelTA has learned.

“It was said at the meeting that today we are facing common risks, challenges and threats associated with external interference in the internal affairs of our countries. And we at the CIS need to come up with mechanisms to counter this interference,” Aleksandr Volfovich noted.

“In fact, any country in the world should deal with its issues on its own, without any interference. Moreover, there are attempts to rock the boat, to drive a wedge between the once friendly, fraternal peoples, in order to destroy their historical values,” he added.

The meeting of the Secretaries of the CIS Security Councils highlighted topical issues of international and regional security, including the situation in the post-Soviet space in the context of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. The participants of the meeting discussed the issues related to combating destructive activities of foreign NGOs, glorification of fascism and falsification of history in the CIS countries. Problems of nuclear security and nonproliferation of nuclear weapons were also on the agenda.
