MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) - Antonio Vivaldi’s cycle La Stravaganza, consisting of 12 violin concertos, was performed for the first time in Belarus at the 36th International Ivan Sollertinsky Music Festival in Vitebsk.

The twelve violin concertos, published by Antonio Vivaldi in the collection La Stravaganza (Extravagance, Whim, or Oddity) in 1716, fully justify their name. Their expressive range is vast - from the tender lyricism of the slow movements to the turbulent and breakneck tempos of the fast ones. The solo violin part in them is exceptionally demanding, extravagant, and unrestrained, filled with rapid leaps and brilliant virtuosity.

They were performed by Alexey Zagorsky’s string ensemble from Minsk. The ensemble made its debut at the Ivan Sollertinsky Music Festival and performed for the fourth time at the Vitebsk Oblast Philharmonic Hall, where the project’s previous performances were sold out.
