
MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - The Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War stands as a testament to the heroism and resilience of the Belarusian people, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu said as he attended a solemn assembly to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.
"This year, Belarus celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, while Vietnam marks the 50th anniversary of its own victory," the diplomat noted. "Victory Day on 9 May 1945 was a momentous occasion of profound historical significance for the Soviet people, including Belarusians. Similarly, the Liberation of the South and national reunification on 30 April 1975 were important events for Vietnam. This year, the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's victory was commemorated in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of numerous international delegations, including a delegation from the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus led by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov."
The ambassador continued: "These Victory Days of our two nations have entered history as triumphs for all peoples who strive for peace, freedom, and justice. They serve as an occasion to pay tribute to those who fought and sacrificed themselves in defense of their homeland."
"The Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1945 created a striking monument to heroism and invincibility," Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu said.

The ambassador continued: "These Victory Days of our two nations have entered history as triumphs for all peoples who strive for peace, freedom, and justice. They serve as an occasion to pay tribute to those who fought and sacrificed themselves in defense of their homeland."
"The Great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1945 created a striking monument to heroism and invincibility," Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu said.
He emphasized the importance of Belarus’ commitment to preserving historical memory about the events of World War II at the state level.
