Union State youth parliament to work on ecological map of water sources

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - Youth MPs are set to develop an ecological map of water sources of the Belarus-Russia Union State. The project will be implemented at the initiative of the Youth Chamber of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, BelTA has learned.

On 10 August, the MPs of the House of Representatives, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, took part in a working meeting at the National Center of Ecology and Regional Studies to discuss an ecological map of water sources of Belarus, including Lake Naroch.

“We always welcome all the developments that young people are engaged. Especially if it concerns the ecology of our states. These developments will be of great applied importance, because ecology is very important. Especially when we talk about water resources, their protection, springs. Today we also talked about youth tourism. The development of an ecological map and the development of an electronic application was a goal set by the youth MPs. They continue to implement one such idea on digitization of the Great Patriotic War monuments. We have very active young people and they will succeed,” said Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on Social and Youth Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Issues, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Physical Education, Family and Youth Policy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.

According to her, such joint projects are of great importance for the youth of the two countries. “This is very important for the promotion of the Union State. Young people will make friends and do science. This is an important point in the development of the countries,” MP Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak said.

The event was organized by the Commission on Ecology and Nature Management of the Youth Chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
