Three CSTO exercises begin in Kazakhstan

MOSCOW, 27 September (BelTA) – Three exercises are scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan on 26 September – 13 October. Those include the command and staff exercise Vzaimodeistviye 2022 [Interaction] with the Collective Security Treaty Organization's collective rapid response forces, the Poisk 2022 [Search] special exercise with reconnaissance forces and assets, and the Eshelon 2022 [Echelon] exercise with logistics support forces and assets, the joint press center of the exercises told BelTA.

The active phase of the exercises will take place in the training area Matybulak on 3-7 October. The CSTO forces will have to carry out practical actions in a mountainous and desert area.

Taking part in the exercises will be military contingents of the CSTO member states, operations groups of the CSTO Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat, special operations forces detached by special branches of law enforcement (police) agencies, security agencies, and special services as well as bodies in charge of preventing and alleviating consequences of emergencies.

The total number of participants is expected to exceed 6,500 people. Over 850 units of military and special hardware, including aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial units, will be deployed.
