MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – The failure of democratic and liberal policies in the European Union has fueled the rise of far-right forces in many European countries, Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science – Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Throughout the European Union, the situation is developing in such a way that, following the failures of the democrats and liberals, the far-right is vying for power. They have a significant lead in France and Germany. But who are the far-right? This all smells of Nazism,” Andrei Bogodel stated.

To support his argument, the expert referenced a statement by Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, who previously announced her decision not to celebrate the victory over the Nazis of the Third Reich. “Then we will face not just a hegemon in the United States, but also a far-right Europe. For us, it will also be an ideological enemy,” Andrei Bogodel emphasized.

He further added that the glorification of Nazis and their collaborators is already underway in some European countries. Andrei Bogodel cited the Baltic states as an example, where Nazi criminals are glorified and claims of a “Soviet occupation” are made.
