MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Justice Minister Sergei Khomenko and Communications and Informatization Minister Konstantin Shulgan took part in the first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony for the stamp “100 years of the archival service of Belarus" at the Main Post Office of Minsk on 4 August, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Khomenko said that the archival service is the institution that keeps memory. The first documents that were found on the territory of Belarus tell about the history, traditions, and the way of life the ancestors lived.
The minister said that today's dedication ceremony is symbolic as it is held in the Year of Historical Memory. Traditionally, in Belarus anniversaries and memorable dates are celebrated with a special dedication ceremony at the Belpochta mail service office and the anniversary of the archival service was not an exception.
Konstantin Shulgan added that he was honored to take part in such an important event. "Today we pay tribute to employees of the archival service, who work painstakingly to record our history," he said.
An envelope with the stamp "100 years of the archival service of Belarus" was prepared in cooperation with the Department of Archives and Records Management at the Justice Ministry. The envelope and special stamp was designed by Svetlana Tsyrulik.
