Snopkov: China's technologies fuel momentum for Belarus’ industrial development

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – Belarus' sustainable economic development is based on integration of its industrial potential with Chinese technologies, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel on 27 October, BelTA has learned.

For the third year in a row, China has outperformed all countries together in the number of AI patents, demonstrating its leading position in technology.

"The visit of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang to Belarus in August gave a new impetus to our relations that are based on openness, sincerity, and willingness to cooperate with Belarus in all areas despite the sanctions," Nikolai Snopkov said. "We have signed a program of industrial alignment policy between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Chinese Industry and Information Technology Ministry, which is in full swing now. I am deeply convinced that this is the main document we should work with at present."

Nikolai Snopkov said that the program was turned into a detailed plan consisting of 30 specific projects in machine tool engineering, automotive engineering, petrochemicals and timber processing. "The government is convinced that machine tool engineering is the foundation of the entire mechanical engineering. No wonder we have focused on this particular sector. The project is being actively implemented today on the basis of and together with Chinese technologies," Nikolai Snopkov added.

He also specified that Belarus and China have drawn up detailed plan No. 2, which already includes 117 projects. Belarus is working with the Chinese Industry and Information Technology Ministry to sign the document, which is much more in-depth than plan No. 1 and covers more sectors, including pharmaceuticals and medicine.
