MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) - China aims to enhance cooperation with Belarus within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS across five key areas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said as he delivered a thematic lecture on SCO cooperation at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR), BelTA learned.

"In January 2025, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the strategies of Belarus' participation in the SCO and BRICS, defining the key goals and priority tasks for cooperation within the SCO until 2030," the diplomat emphasized.
"This document clearly demonstrates that China and Belarus hold similar views on the development of the SCO," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan stated.
"China is ready to work with Belarus to align development strategies across five main areas of practical cooperation: strengthening political trust, ensuring collective security, promoting common prosperity, fostering humanitarian exchanges and enhancing the efficiency of institutional mechanisms. We also intend to build a common home of solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good neighborliness and friendship, justice and impartiality," he said.
