MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Belarusian Railways is not just a workplace but a life path for more than 400 dynasties, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko told the media, BelTA has learned.
Ahead of Railway Workers' Day, Igor Sergeyenko toured a structural unit of Belarusian Railways. The Parliament speaker visited the Transport Control Center. The facility comprises operational department, loading and unloading coordination unit and the scheduling department. Equipped with simulators, automated systems and centralized dispatch technologies, the center implements cutting-edge digital solutions to optimize traffic management. Igor Sergeyenko also met with the Belarusian Railways team.

"Today we are touring the Belarusian Railways’ Transport Control Center. We made sure of the high professional standards of transportation organization. This is the central hub responsible for managing the entire railway system. It has been operating this way for six years. To work here, one must first gain experience in various sectors after graduating from university," Igor Sergeyenko said. "But overall, I’d like to emphasize that the Belarusian Railways’ workforce includes over 60,000 employees and more than 400 dynasties. People come to work here, and later their children graduate and join as well."
Belarusian Railways is actively developing and modernizing. "The railway is currently electrifying additional sections of its network and pursuing joint projects with Russian Railways. Comparing to what the railway service was like 30 or 40 years ago, the changes are dramatic and significant," the Speaker noted."For example, daily operations now involve loading more than 200,000 tonnes of freight and transporting more than 200,000 passengers via commuter and domestic services and also international trains to Russia. While western routes remain suspended, we remain open for cooperation with all neighbors and partners."

“Railway Workers' Day is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday of August. We congratulate all railway workers, veterans and all who have contributed to the operation and development of our railway network. Just imagine: when the Great Patriotic War ended, we essentially had to rebuild the country from ruins, including restoring all transportation routes. This is a highly complex system that has always operated with military-like discipline. You've probably noticed that everyone wears uniforms, but these are not mere formalities. The uniform symbolizes precision, diligence and systemic organization. All our train services, both passenger and freight, run strictly on schedule," Igor Sergeyenko emphasized. “As we approach this holiday, I wish all railway transport workers success in their demanding work, good spirits and good health. I wish you new promising projects and further success."

"The law regulating railway transport operations was adopted in 1999 and it remains unchanged. This demonstrates the stability of norms that were thoroughly developed at the time and which both workers and managers of railway transport still rely on today. However, it may be time to consider making certain adjustments to reflect current realities," the Speaker added.
