BELGRADE, 17 January (BelTA) – At the upcoming presidential election, the Belarusian people will face a fateful choice, Head of the Serbian conservative movement Nashi Ivan Ivanovic said at a conference in Belgrade, BelTA has learned.
Ivan Ivanovic emphasized that during the current election campaign the Belarusians will face, without exaggeration, a fateful choice, as the tense military and political situation around Belarus requires a strong and respected leader.
"Why is the election in Belarus so important? The world is on the precipice of the third world war. The West keeps trying to draw Belarus into the war in Ukraine and launch irreversible processes. The only chance to avid it is a strong economy and national unity. The recipe is clear. And Belarusians follow it. Those who have been in this country, even in transit, can easily confirm it with a large number of examples. A lot of credit goes to the wise foreign and domestic policies of the country's leadership, prioritizing social focus and multipolarity, peace and cooperation,” the Serbian politician said.
The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for January 26, 2025. Five candidates are running for the post: incumbent President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Aleksandr Khizhnyak, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov.
