Second stage of Belarusian-Russian tactical army exercise begins

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – The second stage of the Belarusian-Russian army exercise Slavyanskoye Bratstvo 2020 [Slavonic Brotherhood] has begun, the Defense Ministry told BelTA.

On 21 September Belarus sent information about the exercise to the OSCE member states although the country did not have to. The information was provided as a gesture of good will for the sake of enabling the transparency of military activities in the Republic of Belarus.

During this stage the sides will practice the control of troops to repulse an armed aggression in a rapidly changing situation. Organization of interaction and comprehensive support for the sake of accomplishing the given missions will be practiced.

Today a Belarusian-Russian tactical team will have to liberate a hydraulic engineering facility captured by the enemy. The team will have to perform a parachute assault and an air landing followed by crossing a water obstacle in combat vehicles.

Over 500 units of combat hardware, including about 90 tanks, 350 combat armored vehicles, over 130 units of artillery, mortars, and multiple-launch rocket systems will be used.
