Refugee: ‘My kids and I have become hostages of big-time politics of Western countries'

GRODNO, 17 December (BelTA) - People who have been stranded on the Belarusian-Polish border have become hostages of the big-time politics of Western countries, a refugee named Revaz told BelTA.

Refugees have been stranded at the Belarusian-Polish border for 40 days already. They are living in the temporary accommodation facility set up at the Bruzgi logistics hub near the border. At present, there are about 700 people there; there are many women and children among them. Three women have given birth here.

"My wife and I are grateful to Belarusian doctors for their care. The baby is fine," Revaz said. The man and his daughter are waiting for his wife to return from the maternity hospital with a baby girl. He asked journalists about the news, whether Western countries have made any decisions regarding the refugees. He is not losing hope of reaching Germany.

"We didn't set on this journey for fun. In fact, we have become hostages of the big-time politics of Western countries. Ordinary people are cannon fodder or bargaining chips for them," the man lamented.
