MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – The Ukraine conflict has clearly demonstrated the lack of independence of the European Union, Polish political scientist and publicist Tomasz Gryguć said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Let's look at Germany. Not only did the new chancellor classify the expenses and the amount of money and weapons Germany gives to the Ukrainians, but he also announced plans to spend more than 5% of their GDP on the war. The Europeans need to wake up. In 2022, Ukraine clearly showed everyone that the European Union is not an independent decision-maker, that it is completely subordinate to Washington. It is Washington's vassal,” Tomasz Gryguć said.
In his opinion, the European Union managed to easily integrate openly Russophobic rhetoric in its policies. It restricted Russian-language media, tried to 'cancel' various cultural figures from Russia.
“The censorship was brutal. Any sane voice of reason that called things by their names and spoke about the reasons for the war in Ukraine could get on the radar of counterintelligence, the police, or ended up before a people's tribunal,” the political scientist added.
