MOSCOW, 26 September (BelTA) - Peaceful atom is a guarantor of stability and energy independence of Belarus, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said at the Russian Energy Week in Moscow on 26 September, BelTA learned.

“Belarus approached the decision to build its own nuclear power plant in a responsible and very careful way and carried out a detailed analysis and assessment of all aspects of construction and further safe operation of the plant,” he said.
Viktor Karankevich recalled that the BelNPP construction project was implemented jointly with the strategic partner - Rosatom State Corporation. “This is a modern facility, two 3+generating units of 1,200MW each, which meet the most modern and most stringent international requirements for nuclear radiation safety,” Viktor Karankevich said.
