Peaceful atom seen as guarantor of Belarus’ stability, energy independence 

“We realize that peaceful atom is a guarantor of stability and energy independence, certain technical advantages in the development of the country,” Viktor Karankevich said.

“Belarus approached the decision to build its own nuclear power plant in a responsible and very careful way and carried out a detailed analysis and assessment of all aspects of construction and further safe operation of the plant,” he said.

Viktor Karankevich recalled that the BelNPP construction project was implemented jointly with the strategic partner - Rosatom State Corporation. “This is a modern facility, two 3+generating units of 1,200MW each, which meet the most modern and most stringent international requirements for nuclear radiation safety,” Viktor Karankevich said.
