MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - More than 200 veterans of the Great Patriotic War will take part in the 9 May parade in Minsk, Head of the main department of ideology and youth affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee Olga Chemodanova said in a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project.
She noted that there are 280 veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Minsk, but unfortunately, not all of them will be able to participate in the parade due to health issues.
"We have the highest regard for our veterans and are happy to invite them to the parade. Over 200 veterans will take part in the event. This year, not only veterans from the capital but also those from Minsk Oblast accompanied by others will attend it. We also greatly respect survivors of the siege of Leningrad, former prisoners of concentration camps and imprisoned children, who are now 80 years old or more," Olga Chemodanova emphasized.
