Opinion: Radicalization of opposition suggests lack of public support for it

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – The radicalization of the opposition means that it does not enjoy the support of Belarusians, Director – Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house Dmitry Zhuk said during the Editors' Club program on Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“When it comes to terror, terrorism against politicians, journalists, this only suggests that the people who are behind it do not have the support of the majority of the public. They would not have needed it, had they had public support,” Dmitry Zhuk emphasized.

The head of the media holding is convinced that people can resort to such crimes only for money. “Everything was done by specific people for a specific amount of money. Believe me, money played an important role here. It is not because of convictions that people throw a Molotov cocktail at someone's house at night [the attempt to set fire to the house of MP Oleg Gaidukevich],” he noted.
