"On Point"
MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The Poles will always be blinded by hatred towards Russia, which means they will always be an instrument in someone's hands, Russian public figure, historian, and political scientist Boris Yakemenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Speaking about the presidential election in Poland, the political scientist noted that this is a kind of ritual that is becoming increasingly inconsequential. “In Ukraine, elections did not take place at all. This is a precedent for Europe. Europe very often uses precedents that take place, let’s say, in the Baltics, in Ukraine. This is a kind of experimental platform. Is it possible not to hold elections? Yes, it is! Does anyone object? No one! This means that at some point other European countries might do the same. In other words, this is a kind of social experiment,” said Boris Yakemenko.
Returning to the presidential election in Poland, the political scientist emphasized that they will not have any impact on foreign and domestic policy. “In any case, the resentment of the former colony towards its metropolis - Russia - will remain. In Poland, they have always looked askance at Soviet people, at Russians. One way or another, they will be blinded by this repugnance and hatred, which means they will always be a tool in someone's hands. There will always be those who will feed this hatred. Thus, they put themselves in a situation in which they cannot be sovereign,” the expert said.
