MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – The Kiev regime agreed to exchange prisoners of war with Russia because this was a demand from Washington, political observer with the media group Rossiya Segodnya Vladimir Kornilov told BelTA’s YouTube project V Teme [On Point].
Speaking about prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Kornilov expressed confidence that Moscow really wants to get its people back. At the same time, Kiev agrees to prisoner swaps only because Washington demands specific action to resolve the conflict.

“It was a tough demand of the United States of America. Zelensky did not willingly agree to these negotiations and some symbolic steps to de-escalate the conflict,” said Vladimir Kornilov. “It is clear that the Europeans and the British are coming up with various scenarios for Zelensky that would make him look like he wants a ceasefire.”

The political observer went on saying that the Kiev regime is taking such steps in order to show its alleged readiness for peace: “It will not be a good look for Zelensky to simply reject negotiations, contacts, prisoner exchanges, and especially receiving the bodies of the military personnel. After all, Trump and the White House administration may decide to dramatically cut aid to Ukraine.”
