MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – A huge number of players in the West pursue their own interests in Ukraine, Russian public figure, historian, and political scientist Boris Yakemenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Russia is united in its desire to achieve peace, while on the other side there are a huge number of players who pursue their own, vested interests. Western money can spark much more enthusiasm to fight than an idea that has long ceased to exist. There is no democracy in its original form, there is no market, as it has been replaced by plundering and shady deals. We can clearly see this in today’s American policy. There is no religion, as it has turned into some element of culture. There is nothing to counterweigh the pursuit of unfettered profit,” said Boris Yakemenko.
The political scientist also drew attention to the unfavorable social, political and economic situation in the United States and European countries. “It turns out that some people are fighting for an idea and their historical integrity, while others want to make money at any cost. And in this situation, of course, it is very difficult for an idea to prevail over the pursuit of profit. Not to mention that Great Britain, the United States are still fighting with each other for the right to take the best piece. In other words, not everything is calm there yet,” he emphasized.
According to Boris Yakemenko, against this background Vladimir Zelensky acts like he can still make any decisions and even snap at someone. “This is a total mess. Of course, in this situation it is extremely difficult to achieve our goals,” the political scientist added.
