Opinion: Hybrid war was launched against Belarus

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – A large-scale hybrid war is going on against Belarus; the Belarusian society in its entirety should be aware of the existing threats and have the moral strength to overcome them, Nikolai Shchekin, PhD of Philosophy, Head of the Sociology of Public Administration Department at the Sociology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, said in an interview with BelTA.

“The ideology of radicalism has become a very impactful factor in the modern global world. It must be admitted that the Western civilization transformed freedom and human rights into neo-Nazi politics. Recently, we have been observing the aggravation of international disagreements, and the inevitability of military conflicts has become obvious. I believe that in this regard, the Republic of Belarus is quite adequately toughening its laws on national and public security. In the near future, our country will have to face tough pressure from Poland and the Baltic countries. They will use national and religious factors to further their agenda. Their ultimate goal is Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the anti-constitutional change of power. The heated civil conflict in Ukraine, unfortunately, also seems to be very consequential. A war is inevitable in this region,” the expert said.

“The so-called opposition, which is in fact the fifth column, motivated by the Western special services, will soon make every effort to destabilize the political situation in Belarus. April and May are the time of religious holidays and days of mourning (the anniversary of the Chernobyl accident). Therefore, the Belarusian society must be united as never before in understanding these threats and be spiritually strong to overcome them. We all should understand that a large-scale hybrid war has been launched against our country as a national state and as an ally of Russia, with attempts to make us involved in real civil conflicts. A campaign has been set in motion to dehumanize state structures and power in general, as well as all those who support the nationally elected president. The fugitives will exploit the issues related to the symbols of the Belarusian people and the state. The traitors are trying to distort the historical memory under the cover of ‘trans-gender' democracy, which is based on racism, xenophobia, rejection of traditional values of the Belarusian society. Under the cover of the so-called civic position, we are prompted to destroy the sovereignty of Belarus and its historical achievements with our own hands. Those who call themselves ‘political activists' are simply criminals and outcasts who mean little in their lives, and the results of their ‘work', to put it mildly, are controversial, since all their activities were directed against the Motherland and its stability and prosperity,” Nikolai Shchekin said.

The expert believes that the traditional forms of the nation-state have not exhausted their historical resources. “Those who suggest that we radically change the principles of the political structure by advertising political projects of the so-called network society are enemies of Belarus and its people. By promoting the idea of equality and equal value of all truths, all cultures and identities, they challenge not only the Belarusian national identity, but also the national form of existence. They question traditional religious dogmas and faith, universal human values. The Year of National Unity initiated by Aleksandr Lukashenko should become a time for all of us to comprehend and realize the role and place in history of every citizen. The Year of National Unity is the philosophy of national and civil identity, an altar of historical truth. I believe that right now we should all unite around the national leader and defend and preserve the sovereign and independent Belarus in a common pursuit of the goals and objectives of the Belarusian development model,” the expert summed up.
