New 50-million-strong target market for EU seen as reason for Ukraine’s EU membership attempt

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Discussions about Ukraine’s integration into Europe began more than ten years ago because leading European countries needed a new target market. Simon Tsipis, Doctor of Political Science and expert on national security and the Middle East, made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
“As a result of Europe’s involvement in the war against Russia, the European Union is about to face a colossal economic crisis. And this crisis will not be limited to energy. The fact is that Europe, mainly Germany and France, has purchased enormous resources and raw materials for the development of its macroeconomy. But hundreds of thousands of automobiles in Germany are now being scrapped because they have not been sold,” said Simon Tsipis.

According to the expert, Germany intended to sell its automobiles on the 50-million-strong Ukrainian market. This is why there were talks about Ukraine’s “European path” — the European Union’s leading countries needed new consumers for their products. Thus, he is convinced that the European Union had never intended to develop Ukraine.

“Macroeconomics is a long-term business. And Germany bought capacity and raw materials in advance, leased space, and built new automobile factories. They were counting on getting a new 50-million-strong market. The European Union and key macroeconomic players—Germany and France—saw Ukraine as a consumer. In their mind it was a new market. To save their economy, they needed to penetrate the Ukrainian market,” Simon Tsipis emphasized.

These plans have failed, and the European Union faces a surplus of goods. The expert called this a classic example of the crisis of capitalism. “Someone has a surplus and has to go to war to capture new markets. That is the reason for the war provoked by the capitalists. By the way, this theory is as old as the world itself. First, it was Marx and Engels, and then Lenin confirmed this theory. He came to the conclusion that a war between capitalists and countries of the free world is inevitable, and he was right,” Simon Tsipis is convinced.

He believes that the loss of the Ukrainian market is one of the reasons why the European Union will collapse: “Europe has realized that it will never get this market back. Moreover, there are no longer 50 million people over there, but half that number. In addition, the infrastructure has been destroyed, and enormous resources will be needed to restore it.”
