MPs at Belarusian nuclear power plant site to study legislation application practice

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – An offsite session of the Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications, and Digital Development Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly will take place at premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant to discuss the practice of application of legislation on atomic energy uses, BelTA has learned.

The main goals of the session include studying areas of development of the legislative framework and the regulatory framework on atomic energy uses and studying the practice of applying the laws “On regulating safety in the course of using atomic energy” and “On radiation safety”. Matters concerning the burial of radioactive waste are also on the agenda.
Apart from that, Belarusian-Russian steps to prepare the treaty on setting up the common market of electricity of the Union State of Belarus and Russia for ratification will also be discussed.

Another topical matter is the development of the state program on sustainable energy industry and energy efficiency for 2026-2030.

The offsite session will allow members of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament to identify problems with the development of the power engineering industry in Belarus.
