Minsk delegation attending Belarus-Uzbekistan regional forum

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - A delegation from Minsk has arrived in Tashkent to take part in the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan, BelTA learned from the press service of Minsk City Hall.

Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev and Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov held talks in the capital of Uzbekistan. According to Vladimir Kukharev, the meeting should give a new impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the capitals of the two countries. “I would like our cities to be an example for other regions on interaction in all the areas. We see great prospects in our cooperation. The signing of an agreement to establish twinning relations and a plan of cooperation activities for 2024-2025 is seen as important. Our main task is to implement all the plans as soon as possible,” he said.

The Minsk mayor also invited Tashkent representatives to attend the Minsk City Day celebrations in September 2024 and to participate in the International Forum of Economic Cooperation. He also spoke about the practice of organizing Twin Cities Culture Days in Minsk and invited Tashkent to bring its cultural program to Belarus.

The parties agreed that the relations between Minsk and Tashkent would continue to develop in a warm and friendly manner. At the end of the meeting the participants signed an action plan to implement the agreement between Minsk City Hall and Tashkent Hokimiyat on cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology and culture for 2024-2025.
