MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Minsk and the Chinese city of Qingdao have signed a memorandum on building up the partnership relations between the cities. The document was signed by Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev and Qingdao Mayor Ren Gang on the sidelines of the international forum “Qingdao International Friendship Cities Exchange Month” in China, representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee told BelTA.
On the basis of the agreement signed in 2024 to establish partnership relations between Minsk and Qingdao the parties have agreed to step up friendly cooperation in the manufacturing sector, sport, tourism, culture, and education.
During the forum’s solemn opening ceremony Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev noted that it is a unique international platform that brings together leaders of the cities for the sake of sharing the best practices and bolstering international cooperation. He stressed that the fact that the forum takes place in China is particularly symbolic. China is a country that demonstrates examples of sustainable urban development to the entire world. “As an active participant of international cooperation of cities Minsk highly appreciates the opportunity to learn from China’s experience of smart urban administration,” the head of the Minsk city administration said.
Vladimir Kukharev remarked that the exchange of the best practices between cities of various countries opens up prospects for advancing cooperation while the agreements reached during meetings would help implement new joint successful projects.
