Marc Chagall’s The Walk coming to Minsk in April

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - Marc Chagall’s painting The Walk will be displayed at the National Art Museum in Minsk in April. The museum director, Irina Matyas, told the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Unfortunately, Belarus no longer possesses such masterpieces by Chagall or Malevich as those found in the collections of Russian or European museums. However, we have signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Museum. In April, the Russian Museum Days will be held at the National Art Museum, during which they will bring Marc Chagall’s The Walk to us,” said Irina Matyas.

She also mentioned that it is difficult to display all the works of the Vitebsk-born artist. “2027 marks the artist’s 140th birthday, and it would be wonderful to create a major project for this occasion. We will certainly be working on that,” the director of the National Art Museum said.

In the recent episode of On Point. The Nation’s Pride project on BelTA’s YouTube channel, tour guide Sofia Macharashvili spoke about the reasons the Belarusian artist Marc Chagall attained the status of a world cultural heritage.
