Lithuanian trailers, semi-trailers abandoned in Belarus’ border area moved to parking spaces

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) - All trailers and semi-trailers bearing Lithuanian license plates, which had been abandoned in the Belarusian-Lithuanian border area, have been evacuated to guarded parking lots, Dmitry Rezenkov, the head of the Internal Affairs Ministry office of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA.

The police continue to maintain public order and road safety in the border area with Lithuania, where heavy goods vehicles had accumulated. “On the instruction of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, officers of the Grodno Oblast State Traffic Inspectorate escorted the Lithuanian trucks that had accumulated in the border area to specially equipped, guarded parking areas. Furthermore, ownerless, abandoned trailers and semi-trailers with Lithuanian registration, lacking tractors, had built up on the roads. These vehicles were parked chaotically, creating a threat to traffic safety and conditions for traffic accidents. In this regard, the head of the police department ordered their evacuation to guarded parking spaces. This process has now been completed. The access roads to the Kamenny Log border checkpoint are clear. Grodno Oblast traffic police crews continue to serve in an enhanced mode, ensuring road safety and public order,” Dmitry Rezenkov informed.
