MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – Cross-border traffic through the Medininkai checkpoint (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) and Šalčininkai checkpoint (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) will resume at midnight on 20 November (1 a.m. Minsk time), BelTA learned from the website of the Lithuanian government.
“A proposal from the Ministry of the Interior to open the Šalčininkai and Medininkai checkpoints on the border with Belarus was approved at a government meeting,” the statement said. “Traffic through these checkpoints will resume at midnight, on 20 November.”
Earlier, Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovič stated that the decision to reopen the checkpoints was based on the recommendations from the National Security Commission.
