MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ border service has received an official notification from the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, saying that on 29 October 2025 the Lithuanian government passed a resolution on restricting and on suspending the crossing of the state border of the Republic of Lithuania, BelTA learned from representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
The document introduces restrictions on the movement of natural persons and transport via the border crossing Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) till 01:00 Belarusian time on 1 December 2025.
The agency clarified that these restrictions do not apply to persons with diplomatic or service passports; to individuals carrying Lithuanian diplomatic mail; to individuals travelling in accordance with facilitated transit documents that have been issued in line with Council Regulation (EC) No.693/2003 of 14 April 2003; to Lithuanian citizens and members of their families on the way back to Lithuania (as specified by paragraph 26, article 2 of the Lithuanian law on the legal status of foreigners).
The restrictions will not apply to foreigners who have a valid residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania and are returning into the country; foreigners arriving in the Republic of Lithuania on humanitarian visas issued by representative offices of the Republic of Lithuania; citizens of the following states: members of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, the Principality of Andorra, the Principality of Monaco, the Republic of San Marino, the Holy See (Vatican City State), Ukraine, and their family members (as specified by paragraph 26, article 2 of the Lithuanian law on the legal status of foreigners) and countries that are parties to the North Atlantic Treaty.
Apart from that, the agency added that the restrictions do not apply to members of diplomatic missions or consular offices of the above-mentioned countries in the Republic of Belarus, who are citizens of the Republic of Belarus traveling on official business.
Other individuals will be able to cross the border via the border crossing Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) in exceptional cases with assistance of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The clearing of natural persons and vehicles in the Lithuanian border crossing Salcininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) has completely stopped.
