Kochanova visits Galanteya company

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova has toured the Galanteya company to study the company's performance and to meet with its labor collective, BelTA has learned.

“One of the priority areas of work of members of the Council of the Republic is touring enterprises and meeting with people in order to build a better understanding of how these companies perform and to respond to questions and problems that people have. It is for a reason that I am visiting the enterprise located in the capital city, because I am an authorized representative for Minsk, I often visit local manufacturers. This is a light industry company, therefore most of its employees are women. Thus, I wanted to find out more about the working conditions, production processes, and problems facing women. These problems might be addressed at the legislative level,” Natalya Kochanova said.

According to the parliament speaker, Galanteya has made a name for itself in the domestic market and abroad. “The company's products are well known to customers. The manufacturer offers a great assortment. The company is very flexible. In addition to running its traditional line of business, the company also takes orders from retail outlets, for example, to produce cooler bags, or to make protective gear for healthcare workers, clothing for the defense industry or some other products,” she said.

Natalya Kochanova asked if young people work at the enterprise. “I have learned that the average age of employees is 43 years. In general, working at light industry enterprises is not easy. At the same time, light industry products are meant to bring joy to consumers. I was mostly interested whether young people work here. The company's head said that young employees receive bonuses, which means that a person feels support. People from other places are also invited to work here. Employees are provided with a dormitory, there are a cafeteria and a gym on the premises. Employees have an opportunity to improve their qualifications. Higher qualifications mean higher salaries. Well, mastering some related professions can come in handy,” the speaker emphasized.

Natalya Kochanova is sure that it is necessary to make domestic products more visible on the market. “Look, our products boast a great quality and a competitive price. This company has an extensive network of retail facilities. We will certainly consider the proposals voiced by the company's management today. We understand that our enterprises need support - this is what the president said at the Belarusian People's Congress. After all, economy is all important,” she added.

Anna Glivinskaya, Deputy Director for Marketing and Sales at Galanteya, added that despite the pandemic, there was no significant drop in sales in 2020. “We posted profits. Our export and sales on the domestic market did not shrink. Our network of company stores showed growth compared to 2019. The main thing is that the company is functioning and the morale is high,” she said.

Galanteya products are sold in Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan.
