MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) - Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the trade between Belarus and China has grown more than 200 times, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji in Beijing on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

"In today's difficult geopolitical conditions, relations between our countries have been gaining momentum, quickly adapting to changing realities, maintaining the strength and depth of practical cooperation. The results of mutual trade testify to the effective development of bilateral relations. We are sincerely happy that the trade is growing. In general, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, trade between our countries has increased more than 200 times. This is a really serious achievement," Natalya Kochanova said.
Thanks to the far-sighted and wise policy of the leaders of Belarus and China, our countries have developed an exemplary model of strategic cooperation, including parliamentary activities. We have a comprehensive legal framework. "In this regard, 2023 was especially indicative. An inter-parliamentary agreement was signed between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National People's Congress. The status of the mechanism of parliamentary cooperation has been raised as we set up the High-Level Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee. The committee held its first meeting yesterday. In the near future, we plan to form a new friendship group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation," the speaker stressed.
In recent years, the legislative bodies of Belarus and China have successfully held a number of significant events: a seminar of women parliamentarians, an online meeting on the exchange of experience of Belarusian and Chinese parliamentarism, a roundtable on the youth policy of Belarus and China.
