MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) - The professional interaction of the CEC of Kazakhstan with the CEC of Belarus is of great importance, Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission Nurlan Abdirov said at a meeting with Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko in Minsk on 23 February, BelTA has learned.
"Our very close, friendly relations go way back. I fully concur with you that communication and interaction that we are developing at the professional level [between the CECs of Belarus and Kazakhstan] are very important," Nurlan Abdirov said.
He noted that he has led the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan for two years: "But you know that during the presidency of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakstan has carried out a lot of modernization and transformations, including the constitutional reform."
The head of the Kazakhstan CEC thanked his colleagues from the CEC of Belarus and added that the Belarusian side takes an active part in the observation of election campaigns in Kazakhstan. "This is a great support for us. External assessment is always important," he added.
