MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - A flower laying ceremony took place at the Minsk Hero City Obelisk on 13 September.
The laying of flowers at the Minsk Hero City Obelisk traditionally opens the program of the City Day celebrations. This year, the Belarusian capital is celebrating the 958th anniversary of its founding.
Minsk residents came to honor the memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War who fell while defending the Motherland and the Belarusian capital. Taking part in the ceremony were Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova, Internal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov, and Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev.
This landmark site gathered representatives of the Minsk City Hall, district administrations, the public, city enterprises, law enforcement agencies, MPs, guests from twin cities, veterans, and youth.
A theatrical performance preceded the flower laying ceremony.
