Historian: USA, UK seek to push Europe out to semi-periphery of capitalist system

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - One of the goals of the US and UK in the Ukrainian conflict is to push Europe out of the core of the capitalist system, Russian historian, director of the Institute for Systemic and Strategic Analysis Andrei Fursov said in a new episode of the project V Teme [On Point] on BelTA’s YouTube channel.

Andrei Fursov drew attention to the role and place of investment funds in the Ukrainian conflict. “At the present stage, BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street are the main sponsors of Trump. It should be said that the investment funds are now acquiring a completely new function and are becoming opponents of what is called 'the old money',” Andrei Fursov said.

These investment funds own, among other things, Ukrainian land, the expert noted. This is why the USA and Ukraine struggled to sign the so-called resource deal. “Nobody envies the fate of Zelensky. He is between rock and a hard place. Should anything happen they may liquidate Zelensky (he is guarded by British special forces) and point the finger at the Russians,” he emphasized.

Andrei Fursov recalled Vladimir Zelensky's altercation with US President Donald Trump. In his opinion, Zelensky was coached by Europeans, but still it  was  hysterics on his part. He realized that he had to pay the bills, and there was nothing to pay with. “it is primarily the British who support Zelensky. They are propping him up with a bayonet. His entire future actually depends not on Trump, but on the British,” the expert believes.

Andrei Fursov called Donald Trump's plan for Ukraine one of the blows to Europe: “The West's goal No. 1 in the conflict in Ukraine was to weaken Russia. But the second goal of both the British and the Americans was to diminish the role of Europe. What happened during these three years? Europe is being pushed from the core of the capitalist system and on to the semi-periphery. It will not return to the core. If they want to develop their military-industrial complex, they will still have to buy from the Americans. Thus, Europe will fall into even greater dependence.”
